I was asked to document this event for the Slice Out Hunger Benefit, and it was a pizza tossing in the air crazy time. The line to get into this event wrapped around the block and then a rain storm showered them wet. Pizza and people everywhere. Next year this event needs to take place at a park or bigger venue, it really opened my eyes for America's love of the pizza pie and inspired plenty of ideas for next year!

Hot Diggy Dog - It's Crawfish Eating Time!!

Crawfish! Yum! As a native New Orleanian, I am a professional crawfish eater. No need to peel the tail layers like an amateur. I pinch the tails with my thumb and bite the meat right out! Then suck the spicy juices located in the head of the crawfish!!! Can we say - PROFESSIONAL!! If you haven't eaten crawfish you are missing out. These red sea creatures are so good, so yummy the perfect seafood to kick start the summer months. The LSU Alum of New York throw an annual crawfish berl and this mama doesn't miss out!! The last image is of a hot dog cause - Hot diggy dog yall - its crawfish eating time!!!

All of the lights that's right! On my Friday night stroll home from the bars in the Nolita part of town. I passed a church all lite up on the inside. My curious self and love for cathedrals open the tall black iron entranced and walked in. A group of men put my intrigue to a halt and told me to journey back tomorrow night for the light show. So I did. And I am glad. Mulberry Street was a festival of lights and the 3-D church spectacular was the trippiest of all!! <3

The last image is of the modern day renaissance man, James Franco. Franco directed and narrated his graduating project called, COLLAGE. For one week sixty students or fans (blond above) were in a room with James for an hour watching him work aka acting stoned. We were giving flip cameras and told to film. So I did. I filmed the play. The people. Myself. Franco even commented on my filming skills. No lie. James, camera 60 - don't forget. <3

Finally. Spring is here. Now New Yorkers can stop hiding from under their coats and start walking around freely in spring/summer clothes!! My favorite type of clothing. With that being said, it's also a time where my random street encounters up the ante with the caveman convo. I mean just last night some dude stop me on my walk home to tell me I was, "boouteeful". WHO WOULDN'T LOVE THAT COMPLIMENT!?!! Especially, cause I was walking home after a gym sweat fest!! Thank you random black guy!! March Madness Me

March. The middle month. Its spring forward. March Madness. Mardi Gras time. Its the start of Lent. March makes me realize things. March (so far) has been an action pack good time. This March I have already done so much. I got my hair did in a major way. I listened and danced around to Brooklyn's finest DJ's. I made a hot item new legging purchase. I admired the sunny blue skies. And I partied with some crazy white Upper East Siders. Oh UESiders!! March makes me realize my love for being outside and my transitional move to the Big Apple. Yes, on March 22nd - I will have officially graduated from the New York City Living University. I have lived in New York for 4 years!! Wow!! Just thinking about how I went from a New Orleans caterpillar to a NYC city girl butterfly, spreading my wings and learning the valuable lessons of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I graduated summa cum laude because my four year journey has taught me so much about myself - lessons college will never teach you. I am blessed to be living in this magnetic melting pot of places and I will continue my education by living my life for me.

On February 21th 2011, I was granted a Monday off in your honor. This weekend brewed up a dance party saluting good time! For starters, Mother Nature weather teased me with a 60 D Thursday. This wonderful spring tease eventually left me a case of the winter blue ballz cause its 30 again. I successfully lower the standards so low at The Standard Hotel, I won a bottle of champagne! The photo shoots were poppin hard too! We had a smoke break photo shoot. A fur loving chica posing for my lens. A red, white, and blue jean heel wearing hottie. And shots cheering images to toast you, Mr. President. Yes, you!

For condoning this debauchery. For giving me and US Citizens the freedom to play Sunday bingo with a wet t-shirt dance-off and not worry about work in the AM. For the bald eagle and most importantly for the fun time I had with my friends!!

Snowhattan 2011

Mother Nature graced New York with snowflakes, snow flurries, and ice sickles that put bikes, cars, schools, and businesses out of commission. According to Mayor Bloomy it has been the most snow since 1925! Here's the cycle of snow through my brown eyes. When your indoors watching snow fall from your window it's pretty and relaxing. The sweet white flurries make you want cuddle up with your special person sipping coffee in bed and catch up on your Netflick queue rentals. The next day, the snow turns into slush, mush and is slippery! You're high steppin in your boots and its a balancing act. The snow turns into ice-cold mini knee deep canals that block the sidewalks. Taking an accidental dunk in this cold water is painful and annoying. A wet sock and shoe cold mess!

So here's snowy advice to you: Layer up. Watch your step. And think about the warm sun on your back because the snow isn't going anywhere at least until the end of March. <3

India Princess Party and a Muffaletta Cake

This was a birthday party for an Indian princess turning 1 and a fundraiser for the March of Dimes. Everything about this event was over the top perfect. The custom made Indian decor meets Miami mansion is where this royal family resides. Italian chandeliers, the marble, art everywhere, the 3 story salt water fish tank, it was sensory overload for the elite and I can't wait for the baby's 2nd birthday!

PS - The last image is of a muffaletta groom's cake. The wedding was poorly planned but the cake was YUMMY!!!

You would never guess its December in New Orleans, just yesterday I was wearing a tank top and skinny jeans!! Got to <3 the South for not catching on to the cold weather like the North. The first set of images are of my boy Miguel from Club 930. He's real fun to shoot. The last images are of my college buddy Paul. Even though he's sporting a Boston hat, I get over our sport differences because, well, its the American way. GOOOOO YANKEES!!! BOSTON SUCKS!!! I can't help but revert to an immature teenage boy when it comes to Boston teams - seriously they do suck.

Bubbles From The Old Ursuline Convent

Built in 1752 this New Orleans landmark is the oldest surviving examples of the French colonial period. On Thursday, the historic Ursuline Convent was the location to a champagne event called Bubbles, Bubbles, Bubbles (Yes, I know). This champagne tasting had my fingers on the point and shoot button because I fell in love.

Hand written notes from Thomas Jefferson! The statue of touchdown Hail Mary! Life size saint statues! The herb garden! The French Quarter backdrop! The art! The moustache door hinges! The Spanish architecture! As far as the event went - well, Nola you have the venue, your missing the eye candy. Too many boys in oversized pleated khaki pants, ladies in frump-a-lump paisley fo-silk shirts and not enough styled-out party goers I'm comfortable with. However, I didn't care about the people, I was all about the place!

Dementia Dish

This was giving to me by an elderly lady with dementia who lives in the building where I am temping. Her New Orleans old money wealth bears treats when she walks out of her downtown apartment. She's always draped in her golden jewels and accompanied by her gentle giant rottweiler. I like when she pops out of her apartment because I know something old folks bizarre will happen and that makes my day go by faster.

Every night is Halloween in my mind and I appreciate taking pictures of a good costume. SoundCtrl + NYU + Clive Davis = A Musical Conversation

First Chuck D now Clive Davis. Meeting Mr. Davis the man behind Whitney Houston, Santana, Janis Joplin, Justin Timberlake, Kelly Clarkson, Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys...and so many others. Was an exciting experience. What a great lesson to learn from one of the most affluent music moguls. Making music in a time where all you need is a computer. It was nice to hear stories about the old school music industry. Regardless, to what happens in the industry one thing Clive Davis taught me is - does the beat make you want to dance? Watching him chair dance was the cutest thing I've seen. I'm thankful that SoundCtrl and NYU gave me the opportunity to document this lesson.

Amplified. Energetic. Brooklyn Swagger. All describe what this Forthebeat CMJ event had going on. The lively line up included Sleigh Bells, Pantogram, X-Wife, We Have Band, and Electric Tickle Machine. Your swagger had to be in check because the polaroids were shaking with colorful leggings, bright t-shirts, and fancy glasses. Sipping a mini Colt 45 bottle, I took pictures of my friends and the enthusiastic random boys clapping to the beat. Unfortunately, my computer had a melt down and the next morning I was like Carrie Bradshaw at the Apple store. My photos are now backed up but in the end, I lost over 150 images of the event. Tears.

A Hard Night

They called this party Hard for a reason. The second you walked into the door of Terminal 5 you felt the forceful energy that filled the room. This event was crazy. The music was fire electric, the crowd was zealous, the dancer dry humped our eyes off. Did I say this was crazy!!??!! With JackBeats, Rusko, Major Lazer, Diplo, Santigold, Nina Sky and the Crookers my images are insane.

Black Dynamite Movie

Need more action in your life? Want to watch a film that takes you back to bell bottom wearing, mustache grooming 70's swagger? Black Dynamite is the latest action pack satire to hit the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and is now gracing our presences with a big kung fu kick. This indi comedy will light up big screens October 16th and its a fun one. The after party was at Libation and sponsored by Three - Olive vodka. The Hot 97 DJ served up beats from that delightful time and I got to play name that sample.

Pepsi the Generation of Sound Event

Drinking Pepsi is soooo tasty, especially when they sponsor events in the music industry. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame was the setting for a panel of musicians including Chuck D and Green Label Sound to discuss the future of music. When I was hired to work this job, I thought, "A PANEL...kinda boring, right??" Well, it wasn't. It was the best of both worlds. Guests got their drink on, got their dance on, and then got their education on! It was fun, sassy, and inspiring. Big thanks to Alex @ SoundCtrl - he hooked it up!

Conservation of Audubon

Old people! Food! Lemonade!...No, I wasn't at my Maw-Maw's house. I was at the historic, marble Plaza Hotel. Oh what a treat to take pictures of women who had no idea why. The event was actually for a REALLY good cause. Conservation of our Earth is important for my children's children's children so I was happy to attend. Across the fountain I stumbled into a Sesame Street taping. Ahhhhhhhhh breath in, sigh. It brought me back to when I was three years old and didn't care about anything but Miss Piggy, Reading Rainbow and Mr. Roger's sweater and tennis shoes costume change. The good life.

Attending the Patrick McMullen show at PowerHouse Arena was a happy hour event. The inspiration was on the walls for me. I did not want to disturb people looking and interpreting art. So, I have plenty of candid shots. I met a ballerina and an Scottish man on the run. It was a warm night - finally so everyone was smiling and excited about the 2009 DUMBO opening reception. With Swine flu and our economy in recession people will still come out to support the arts. Supporting artists and creativity might be the only thing that will get us out of this mess!

I got into a hissy cat fight with another photog wearing mom jeans. He didn't have a chance after I spoke with him!!! Seriously! After we respectfully talked it out like normal professionals - he was still in mom jeans and I was in pink skinny jeans. So, we know who won!!!!!!
