SoundCtrl + NYU + Clive Davis = A Musical Conversation

First Chuck D now Clive Davis. Meeting Mr. Davis the man behind Whitney Houston, Santana, Janis Joplin, Justin Timberlake, Kelly Clarkson, Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys...and so many others. Was an exciting experience. What a great lesson to learn from one of the most affluent music moguls. Making music in a time where all you need is a computer. It was nice to hear stories about the old school music industry. Regardless, to what happens in the industry one thing Clive Davis taught me is - does the beat make you want to dance? Watching him chair dance was the cutest thing I've seen. I'm thankful that SoundCtrl and NYU gave me the opportunity to document this lesson.

forthebeat CMJ showcase ABC Amplified

Amplified. Energetic. Brooklyn Swagger. All describe what this Forthebeat CMJ event had going on. The lively line up included Sleigh Bells, Pantogram, X-Wife, We Have Band, and Electric Tickle Machine. Your swagger had to be in check because the polaroids were shaking with colorful leggings, bright t-shirts, and fancy glasses. Sipping a mini Colt 45 bottle, I took pictures of my friends and the enthusiastic random boys clapping to the beat. Unfortunately, my computer had a melt down and the next morning I was like Carrie Bradshaw at the Apple store. My photos are now backed up but in the end, I lost over 150 images of the event. Tears.

A Hard Night

They called this party Hard for a reason. The second you walked into the door of Terminal 5 you felt the forceful energy that filled the room. This event was crazy. The music was fire electric, the crowd was zealous, the dancer dry humped our eyes off. Did I say this was crazy!!??!! With JackBeats, Rusko, Major Lazer, Diplo, Santigold, Nina Sky and the Crookers my images are insane.

Black Dynamite Movie

Need more action in your life? Want to watch a film that takes you back to bell bottom wearing, mustache grooming 70's swagger? Black Dynamite is the latest action pack satire to hit the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and is now gracing our presences with a big kung fu kick. This indi comedy will light up big screens October 16th and its a fun one. The after party was at Libation and sponsored by Three - Olive vodka. The Hot 97 DJ served up beats from that delightful time and I got to play name that sample.
